This is a position working in client homes with children who have autism and other behavioral needs. The primary responsibility is working directly with the children on a regular basis, utilizing a program of applied behavior analysis to reduce the occurrences of challenging behaviors and reinforce pro-social behaviors. We're looking for an individual who is committed to improving the lives of others, enjoys working with people, and has excellent interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities:
- Provide individual treatment for individuals aged up to 21 years old.
- Implement learning programs under the supervision of a BCBA, collect data on target behaviors, type session notes after completion of each session.
- Deliver skills instruction to clients based upon the principles of applied behavior analysis.
- Collaborate with caregivers to evaluate and modify the behavior of children with special needs.
- Assist in providing training and guidance to parents, and other caregivers to help children overcome problems with communication, social skills, attention, or sensory integration.
- Communicate with therapists and other professionals on the child's progress.
- Attend initial and ongoing training provided by Atlantis PBS.
- Meet with Supervisor routinely to discuss needs and progress of treatment.
Qualifications and Skills:
- BCaBA or RBT strongly preferred
- High School Diploma required; College Degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field from an accredited college or university preferred
- Willingness/ability to earn RBT (Registered Behavior Technician) certification
- Hard working with strong interpersonal skills and great attention to detail
- Demonstration of a passion for exceeding expectations
- Effective communication skills and attention to detail
- Open availability and flexibility to work evenings and weekends to meet the needs of our clients
- Access to laptop/tablet for completion of online training, typing session notes, virtual meetings
Requirements:
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) strongly encouraged to apply due to current client needs
- Must live in the general posted area and be available for in-person services
- Must have reliable transportation between client homes (it is typical to serve multiple clients in one day)
- Strong verbal and written communication, time management and organizational skills, problem-solving
- Completion of all training requirements outlined in the New Employee Checklist (provided by APBS)
Compensation:
- $17-$25 based upon experience
- Additional $1 per hour upon successful completion of RBT exam
- Additional $1 per hour for dual/multiple language speakers when utilizing ability
- After one year of employment, employees become eligible to be paid salary vs hourly
Job Type:
Part-time with potential of full time
(Part time: 12-15 hours weekly / Full time: 25-30 hours weekly)
