Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Machining Instructor to join our skilled trades education team. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in both manual and CNC machining operations, along with a passion for teaching and mentoring the next generation of machinists.

This position involves instruction in manual lathe and mill operations, as well as CNC lathe and mill programming, setup, and operation. The successful candidate will ensure students gain real-world, hands-on experience that prepares them for work in advanced manufacturing environments.

Please note that this role is classified as independent contractor (1099) work, meaning compensation is provided without company-sponsored benefits such as health insurance, PTO, or retirement contributions. Are you interested in proceeding under this structure?

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging curriculum for manual and CNC machining courses.
  • Instruct students in manual lathe and mill operations, CNC programming, machine setup, and operation techniques.
  • Emphasize safety, precision, and quality in all aspects of machining instruction.
  • Evaluate student progress through practical projects, written assessments, and performance observations.
  • Maintain and oversee machine tools, equipment, and lab safety procedures.
  • Stay current with industry trends, technology, and best practices in machining and CNC programming.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience operating both manual and CNC machines.
  • Minimum 2 years of teaching or training experience in a machining or manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in CNC lathe and mill programming (G-code, M-code, and CAM software familiarity preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of tooling, setup, blueprints, GD&T, and precision measurement tools.
  • Excellent communication and instructional skills.
  • Commitment to fostering a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry certifications (e.g., NIMS, HAAS, FANUC, Siemens).

 

Compensation and Benefits:

  • $40 - $50 per hour commensurate with experience.
