Culpeper’s schools are where our future workforce gets its start and Work in Culpeper
is proud to be part of that story.
From technical training to career-readiness events, here’s how our schools are preparing students,
and how our business community shows up to help.
Culpeper County Public Schools
Culpeper County Public Schools serves over 8,000 students across six elementary schools, two middle schools, two high schools, and a career & technical center. Career and technical education run throughout the system, from elementary school through graduation.
Culpeper Technical Education Center
Opened in 2021, the $17 million Culpeper Technical Education Center gives students hands-on, career-ready training in one central location — built right alongside Germanna Community College’s Culpeper campus to create natural opportunities for collaboration. Programs include carpentry, electricity, HVAC-R, drafting, automotive technology, cybersecurity, culinary arts, EMT, cosmetology, healthcare technician, criminal justice, and firefighting.
Events & Initiatives
CCPS runs a full calendar of career-readiness events throughout the year, and Work in Culpeper is glad to be involved.
Mock Interviews
Work in Culpeper is the proud sponsor of Career Partners Mock Interviews, giving every Culpeper County 11th grader the chance to step into the world of work and practice their professional skills in a supportive setting. Each student completes a job application, creates a personalized resume, and sits down for a one-on-one interview with a local business or community volunteer.
Students gain experience in presenting themselves professionally, answering interview questions, and learning how to improve through direct feedback. Afterward, they write handwritten thank-you notes to their interviewers—practicing both professionalism and gratitude.
This program builds confidence and communication skills, preparing students for job searches, college applications, and future career opportunities.
Manufacturing & Construction Day
Working alongside Culpeper businesses, Work in Culpeper is proud to sponsor and coordinate Manufacturing & Construction Day, built for middle school students at both CCPS schools. 8th grade students who identify an interest in advanced manufacturing, skilled trades, engineering technology and construction management spend a day visiting local industry sites for a hands-on, immersive experience.
Skill Showcase
Each spring the Culpeper Technical Education Center (CTEC) opens its doors to industry partners for their annual Skill Showcase, a full day where local businesses can witness firsthand the real-world skills and professionalism being developed inside CTEC classrooms and labs. A bridge between education and industry, the Skill Showcase allows students to demonstrate their skills and meet perspective employers, in a familiar environment.
Job Fair
Culpeper County Public Schools annual job fair welcomes 30+ businesses each year to share opportunities with seniors from both high schools and technical education students. The event allows students to discuss employment opportunities, provide emplyers with resumes, and even conduct on-site job interviews.
Signing Day
“CTE Signing Day highlights what happens when students are given meaningful pathways and real-world experiences,” said Randi Richards-Lutz, CCPS Director of Career and Technical Education. “Our students are graduating with confidence, credentials, and a clear direction for what comes next.”
Culpeper County Public Schools proudly celebrates students committing to workforce opportunities through their annual Career & Technical Education Signing Day. CTE Signing Day recognizes the dedication, preparation, and purpose of students who are launching directly into careers or military service. Joined by future employers and family, students sign official Letters of Intent marking their commitment to employers and service.
